Virginia W. Barrier, 97 of Morganton, NC passed away, Thursday, April 16, 2020. Born on November 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Eula Ward. Virginia was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and loved reading her Bible as well as Stephen King novels. Virginia also enjoyed watching scary movies. She loved her family and cats very much.
Virginia is survived by her children, Lawrence Barrier (Susan), Linda Whisnant (Gary); grandchildren, Toby Barrier, Rebecca Barrier, Chris Barrier (Pam); Daniel Whisnant, Jamie Whisnant (Allison); great-grandchildren, Austin, April, Chayla, Raven, Josh, Lauren; great-great-grandchildren Kayaa, Roman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 60 plus years, Grover Barrier; siblings, Bertha, Elva, Thelma, Charles.
The family will have a graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
