Virginia Speagle Davis, 86, of Connelly Springs, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Born in Catawba County, NC on August 3, 1937, she was the daughter of the late J.W. Speagle and Pansy Fincannon Speagle.

Virginia was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who retired from Burke Mills in Valdese. Mrs. Davis enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, tending to her flowers, gardening, and lunching with friends. She also enjoyed taking trips to shop and eat with her church group, but she most enjoyed spending time with her family.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Stefanie Davis Berry (Jeffrey); granddaughters, Ester Calista Berry and Ensley Carean Berry; sister, Donna Speagle Green; brother, William Thomas Speagle (Derene); nieces and nephews, Amber Ashton Dulin (Josh), Amanda Louise Winston, Melinda Dawn Green, and William Scott Speagle (Teresa); and a number of extended family.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by husband, Colon Eugene Davis; sons, Rodney Eugene Davis and Joel Patrick Davis; sisters, Alice Faye Williams and Rita Yvonne Weaver; and nephews, William Stacy Speagle and Jeffery Ray Weaver.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at St. John’s Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Tony Dyson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Baptist Church.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
