Virginia S. Vance, 90, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of the Oak Hill Community, Morganton, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021. Born in Burke County, NC on May 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William Grover Stroupe and Matilda Elmodia Cope Stroupe. Virginia was a member of Zion Baptist Church. She enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, crochet, working in her yard, and puzzle books. Her treasures were her family and photos.
Mrs. Vance is survived by her children, Mark Vance (Sharon), Diann Blissit (Alan), Michael Vance (Nancy), Dianne Walker (Lonnie), Wade Vance, Jr. (Debbie), and Judy Loftis (Tony); twenty grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Whisnant, Amy Kincaid, and Edith Barrier; daughter-in-law, Donna Colon; and son-in-law, Lawson Jay Edwards.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Hamilton Vance, Sr.; son, Steve A. Clark; and sister, Mabel Stamey.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Keith Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Baptist Church.
