Virginia McCall Watson

Virginia McCall Watson, 81, of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2017.  Born in Caldwell County on October 16, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Ray McCall and Letha Winkler McCall.  Virginia was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She was a devoted wife and mother who dearly loved her family.  Virginia always loved doing anything to help her family. She also enjoyed being outside working in the yard, including gardening and raising flowers.  Mrs. Watson had worked at Stoney Kistler Insurance Company, Pan American Airlines in Washington, D.C., Burke Furniture, and Weight Watchers.

Virginia is survived by her husband, E N Watson of the home, and a son, Stuart Todd Watson of Morganton.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers: William McCall and Jennings McCall; and six sisters: Elizabeth Coffey, Elsie Coffey, Mary McCall, Gydna Smith, Joyce Wilson, and Jean Butcher.

A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home following the service.  The committal service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
