Virginia Hogan Lane, 90, of Morganton died Monday, July 6, 2015.  Born in Burke County, NC on April 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Louie J. Lane and Helen Hogan Lane.  In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by three brothers, Louie Lane, Jr., Richard Lane, and Jimmy Lane; and one sister, Betty Lane Kincaid.

Virginia retired from Alba Waldensian Mills in 1993.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church for 79 years where she served as United Methodist Women president, Sunday school teacher, was a member of the R.T. Claywell and Heilheckler classes, and served as the treasurer for Wednesday night fellowship.  She was an active member of the Pilot Club of Morganton since 1955.  She had served four terms as president, the last was 1982-1983, had served as secretary-treasurer, was district governess from 1973-1974, and was the club sweetheart in 2000.  For many years, Miss Lane also served as the vice president of the Burke County Fair.

Virginia is survived by her sisters-in-law, Gwen Lane and Judy Davis; a brother-in-law, Larry “Buddy” Kincaid, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. John Fowler officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
