Virginia Hicks Hall, 72, of Morganton died Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Born in Cleveland, TN on March 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late James Walter Hicks and Hazel Solena Church Hicks. Virginia was a member of Mountain View #2 Baptist Church and retired from Western Piedmont Community College with over 20 years of service. She loved being at home with her family.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles Walter Hall of the home; children, Randy Hall and Kevin Ruff of Asheville, NC, Peggy Lefevers and her companion, Randy McKinney of Nebo, NC, Hazel Hardin and her husband, Gary, of Lenoir, NC, and her son-by-love, Grayson Morris of Morganton; grandchildren, Charles Hall and his wife, Barbara, Ashley Davis and her husband, Michael, Jenny Kifer and her husband, Bobby, and Callie Morris; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Charlie Hicks and his wife, April, of Valdese, NC, Billy Hicks and his wife, Tammy, of Danville, VA, Joseph Hicks and his wife, Patricia, of Marion, NC, and J. C. Hicks and his wife, Beth, of Morganton; sisters, Joan Vance and her husband, Roy, of Newland, NC, Betty Hensley and her husband, Paul, of Marion, NC, Susie Fredell and her husband, Frank, of Morganton, Grace Hicks and her companion, Mark, of Cherryville, NC, and Rosie Setzer and her companion, Leroy, of Morganton; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers, James Hicks and Steven Hicks.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Mountain View #2 Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Cope officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at Mrs. Hall’s residence on Dysartsville Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
