Virginia Brittain Rogers, 89, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019. She was born on November 3, 1929 in Burke County to the late Harry Lee Brittain and Lura Mae Whitner Brittain. She retired from Broughton Hospital after 18 years and was an Avon Representative for 30 years. She was a member of the Glen Alpine’s Woman’s Club and an active member of Silver Creek Baptist Church where she was the Secretary and Treasurer. Virginia loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. She was a loving mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Rogers; daughter, Susan Virginia Rogers; sisters, Shirley Brittain Morgan and Margaret Nell Brittain Morrison; brothers, Raymond Wesley Brittain and Colin Lee Brittain.
She is survived by her son, Carl Edward Rogers (Cindy); daughter, Catherine Patrice Mathis (Johnny); 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Silver Creek Baptist Church. The funeral will begin at 3:00pm in the church with Rev Larry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
