Virginia A. Walker answered the call of her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2021. She was born on March 28, 1937 to the late John Harley Walker and Norma Lee (Walker) Walker in Cleveland County. She was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She worked in Mental Health for 45 years in Maryland and North Carolina. She was a RN Supervisor when she retired from Broughton Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Maynard (James), Donald, Ronald and Lloyd, and two sisters, Nan and Frances.
Left to cherish her memory is a son, John Harley Walker II of Morganton. She is also survived by a sister, Patricia Simmerer, of Morganton, and a brother, Jerry Walker of Maryland, a number of nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, January 7, 2021 at Burkemont Baptist Church with Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
