Velva Parrish, 75, of Morganton, NC, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

Born in Randolph County, NC on April 13, 1948, she is the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Lambe and Velva Merline Culler Lambe.

Velva was a Christian. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. The was an avid thrift shopper and an excellent cook. Velva was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by many.

Mrs. Parrish is survived by her children, Tracey Smith (Chad) and Christopher Parrish; grandchildren, Kirsten Payne, Lauren Smith, Kaden Miller, Skylar Ramsey, and Isaiah Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Solen and Fynlee Payne; siblings, Jean Moody (David) and Richard Lambe (Ruth); and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Velva was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Ray Parrish; brothers, Thomas and Larry Lambe; and grandson-in-law, Schylar Payne.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I will never forget the wonderful friends Ellie and I had in Ray and Velva in our North Carolina years, and that friendship lasted until Velva went to be with our Lord. We have never had dearer, closer friends than these two. I wish we could be there with you guys in this time of grief, and know that you are in our prayers.
