Tonya Leah Ahrens, 54, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 4, 2022. Born in Alton, IL on December 12, 1967, she was the daughter of Sandra Diveley White (Rufus) and the late Larry Singleton. Tonya was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to all. A kind-hearted person, she loved animals and rescued several dogs for herself and others.
In addition to her mother and step-father, Tonya is survived by her daughter, Taylor Ahrens (Michael), grandson, Kai; sister, Tracey (Jeff); nephew, Hunter; niece, Megan; and a number of extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Shawn Milburn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals (burkecountyfriends4animals.org).
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
