Tony Ray Hunt

Tony Ray Hunt, 61, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Born in Burke County, NC on March 4, 1965, he was the son of the late Pedro “Tilo” Hunt and Edna Yount Hunt.

Tony enjoyed watching the Dukes of Hazard and the Golden Girls. He loved hats, and he had hats from everyone and every place he’d visit. Tony also loved music and dancing, eating cake and ice cream, and making people laugh. He was the life of the room and was loved by everyone.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brothers, David Hunt, Donald Hunt, and Bob Hunt; nieces and nephews, Cindy Foster, Scott Hunt, Elizabeth Fisher, Preston Hunt, Steven Hunt, Sherry Hunt, Donna Brackett, Wendy Phillips, Brandy Fox, Sandy McNeilly, and Jordan Hunt; and numerous extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Praise Assembly of God. The graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Golden Valley Church Cemetery in Bostic with Rev. Kevin Crawford officiating.

The family would like to give thanks to his daycare, Dream Connections. Also, Lisa and Victor Puckett and her family provided Tony with amazing opportunities and care over the last ten years following the death of his mother..
