Tony Jay Whisenant, 54, of Morganton went to his heavenly home on Friday, December 7, 2018.  Born in Burke County, NC on September 7, 1964, he was the son of Louise Dale Whisenant of Morganton and the late J.C. Whisenant.  Tony was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church and owned and operated “Tony the Plumber”.  He was an avid UNC Tar Heel Fan.  Tony had a huge personality and never met a stranger.

A loving father, Tony is survived by his daughter, Marlee Whisenant and fiancée, Mandel Cantrell, of Forest City; Marlee’s mother, Anne H. Whisenant; brother, Andrew Whisenant and wife, Jamie, of Morganton; girlfriend, Teresa Brooks of their home; niece, Kimberly Tipton of Morganton; nephews, Tyler Gautney and Michael Whisenant; 2 great-nephews; and brother-in-law, Tim Gautney.

In addition to his father, Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Whisenant; and his beloved dog, Jak.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2018 at Burkemont Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
