Thomas "Tom" Rochefort

Thomas "Tom" Rochefort, 64, of Woodbine Terrace, Morganton, NC, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Grace Hospital. Born in Woonsocket, RI on September 26, 1944, he was the son of Agnes Robillard Rochefort of Greenville, RI and the late Hector Rochefort. Tom was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was active on several boards as well as the Faith Works Sunday school class. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. A member of Mimosa Hills Country Club, Tom was an avid golfer and gardener. He had been in industrial sales all of his life, having last worked for Allied Locke Industries.In addition to his mother, Tom is survived by his wife, Browning Piper Rochefort of the home; a daughter, Kathleen Steinert and husband, Joel, of Murrells Inlet, SC; a son, Tommy Rochefort of Florien, LA; grandchildren, Morgan and Michael Steinert; and a sister, Priscilla Holt of Greene, RI.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Rochefort.The celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Sydnor Thompson, III, Rev. Dr. Julian Aldridge, and Rev. Holly Adams officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 N. King St., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
