Thomas Elmer Dick, 75, of Morganton died Sunday, July 1, 2012 following a period of declining health. Born in Albemarle, NC on October 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Henry Theodore Dick and Annice Clara Burris Dick. Tom was a retired employee of Dixie Container, Rockwell Casket in Rockwell, NC, and also worked at North Green Small Engine Repair. He previously sang with the gospel group, "The Testimonians," and he also enjoyed fishing.Tom is survived by his wife, Marjorie Elizabeth Grigg Dick of Morganton; step-daughters, Wanda Norman Anderson and husband, Pastor Ken Anderson, of Spruce Pine, NC and Kimberly Norman Woolard and husband, Dennis, of Morganton; grandchildren, Lisa Anderson, Deborah Anderson, Thomas Anderson, and Samantha Woolard; brothers, Cecil Dick and wife, Glennie, of Albemarle, Reece Dick and wife, Pat, of Albemarle, and Truett Dick and wife, Sara, of Manning, SC; sisters, Violet Keller of Albemarle, Betty Jean Scott and husband, Bill, of Stanfield, NC, and Elvene Biles and husband, Bob, of Norwood, NC; and eighteen nieces and nephews.Tom and Marjorie were living caregivers for his mother-in-law, Dura Belle Grigg, who died in 2004.The memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth R. Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 31 College Place, Suite D-320, Asheville, NC 28801.
