Theola Stewart Hall

Theola Stewart Hall, 87, of Lenoir, NC, left this world for her heavenly home on November 10, 2022 following a period of declining health.

She was born in Gaston County, NC, to the late Arthur L. Stewart, Sr and Thelma Capps Stewart on September 17, 1935. As the only child at the time, the small family moved to Burke County, Morganton, NC in 1938.

Although a member of Burkemont Baptist Church in Morganton, Theola retained many friendships and connections to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, which was her first home church. Theola had a beautiful voice and served her Lord by singing in the Burkemont Church choir until failing health altered her life.

After graduating from Salem High School and later from Gardner-Webb Junior College, she found employment as a Civil Service employee. Her federal employment began in Washington, DC as a clerk with the FBI, then a short time with the Court of Military Appeals and at retirement she was working with the Social Security Administration. Following retirement, she loved traveling across the country with her late husband Bobby L. Hall.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a loving step-mother, Monnie Brackett Stewart; brothers, James Kenneth Stewart, Jerry Doyle Stewart, and David Allen Stewart; and nephew, Scott Tyrone Stewart.

She is survived by her brother, LTC (Ret) Arthur Lee Stewart, Jr (Barbara); nephews, Mark Allen Stewart (Kim), CPT Taylor Jay Stewart, and Jeffery Stewart; nieces, Krista Heavner (Brett), Kasey Stewart, and Brittany Tidd (Mike); and numerous cousins. Also, she had a special admiration for her uncle, Henry V. Stewart; and neighbor friend, Ray Willis who checked in with her almost daily.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the many staff members of the Shaire Nursing Center, Lenoir, NC, who cared for her during her residency with them and to Amorem Hospice of Caldwell County.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2022, at Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton, NC. The memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home the Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating. Interment will follow in Burke Memorial Park beside her husband.
