Thelma Louise Franklin Anderson, 89, of Morganton, NC passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born May 3, 1928 in Burke County, NC and was the daughter of the late Glenn Edgar Franklin and Nellie Bess Poore Franklin. Thelma was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church which included the choir, nursery, hospitality and other areas as needed. She worked at the Clerk of Court and later worked alongside her husband at Anderson Auto Parts as a bookkeeper. Thelma always kept the door of her home open for anyone in need, and would literally give you the clothes off her back. She was very giving and unselfish. Thelma loved to sew and cook for everyone.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rosevelt Anderson; sisters, Kathleen Vance and Bonnie Hughs; and brother, Jack Franklin.
Thelma is survived by daughters, Rosemary Anderson Huffman and husband, Steve, and Phyllis Anderson Wilson and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Emily Wilson Austin and husband Darrell, Clayton Wilson and LeeAnna, Cameron Huffman and Spencer Huffman; great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Gatlin and Griffin; one great-grandson on the way; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 108 Murphy Court, Morganton, NC 28655 or to Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
