Thelma Carpenter Owens

Thelma Carpenter Owens, 86, of Morganton died Thursday, October 11, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on April 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Carpenter. Thelma attended the Church of God and was a retired employee of Broughton Hospital.Thelma is survived by her son, Johnny Owens and his wife, Louise, of Morganton, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Owens; a son, Clayton Owens; a granddaughter, Shannon Owens; and a brother, Joe Carpenter.A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Mr. Joe Greene officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
