The Reverend Charles William Myers, 63, of Morganton, went to live with his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 14, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte following an illness of several months.Known affectionately as "Chuck" to his family and friends, Reverend Myers was born November 15, 1950, in Greensboro to Jesse Willard, Sr. and Margaret Hayes Myers. He was married for 33 years to Laura McLeod Myers.Chuck graduated from Northeast Senior High School in Guilford County and attended UNC-CH where he earned a BA degree in accounting. He was a Certified Public Accountant and served in the accounting profession from graduation until his death. He held accounting positions at Cone Mills and A.M Pullian, CPA in Greensboro prior to joining the Shadowline Corporation. He was employed by Shadowline 36 years as Accounting Manager and Comptroller before advancing to the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer where he served until the company ceased operations in 2009. He was employed as Accounting Manager at Triangle Contractors, Inc. in Morganton at the time his illness commenced. For many years until his death, Reverend Myers was a devoted member of Living Word Full Gospel Church in Morganton. He loved his church and he and Laura participated wholeheartedly in the worship and fellowship opportunities there. He served the church selflessly with his time holding a number of positions of responsibility within the church body and ministering to the congregation from the pulpit when called upon to do so.Reverend Myers believed in service to his fellow man. Over the years, he participated in and sometimes led a number of efforts to collect serviceable clothing from the community and distribute these garments to the poor. He also worked on other community projects such as collecting food to give to the poor and providing hot meals to the needy and homeless. He loved these outreach programs that served those less fortunate. Within his own extended family, he was always a source of worthy counsel and guidance for those who sought him out. He provided leadership when the need arose and fostered unity and family cohesion. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother and his kind and gentle nature is a great loss to us all.In addition to his beloved wife Laura, Reverend Myers is survived by sons Jamie Cacella and wife Aurora of Delaware, Ohio and David Moses and wife Kotang of Morganton; and grandchildren Michael, Emily, and Kaydee Moses of Morganton, and brother Jesse W.
