Terry Martin “Marty” Hart, 65, of Morganton, NC went to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Born in Granville County, NC on November 23, 1960, he was the son of Janice Irene Pendley Houston and the late Marshall Lee Hart.

Marty was a veteran of the US Army. He was a devoted husband, son, and brother who loved spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed going out to eat. Marty enjoyed fishing, and he had a great sense of humor. He loved telling dad jokes.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Peggy Dulaney Hart; siblings, Lesia Finney, Anita Lund (Steve), Myron Hart (Cindy), Angie Camp (Scott), and Leigh Ann Hart; step-mother, Shirley Hart; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Marty was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Shannon Powell.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Alpine Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Marty, I am gladdened that you no longer suffer. I remember when you came to work at Hickory Home and Garden Center. We hit it off rather quickly to become friends, that was 40 years ago and we have been friends ever since. I will miss you being here on this earth with us and all your jokes. You will be missed, be in peace my brother. Much love to you from your friend Scott.
