Tara Mae Prestwood, 36, of Morganton, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 2, 2026.
Born in Burke County, NC on March 28, 1987, she was the daughter of William Prestwood and Barbara Wright Prestwood.
Tara was always happy and smiling. She enjoyed decorating, arts, and crafts, but she most enjoyed spending time with her beloved children.
In addition to her parents, Tara is survived by children, Jordan and Rebekah Saulman; and siblings, Charlotte Ramsey, Bobbi Prestwood, and Timothy C. Prestwood.
Tara was preceded in death by her biological mother, Billie Prestwood.
A celebration of Tara’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2026 at First Christian Church of Marion with Pastor Don Mitchell officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

You were one of a kind sweet child. I wish we would have met sooner in life. Maybe both of our lives would have been different. You were my dad's favorite waitress at Glen Alpine Depot. He thought alot of you and I can see why. You had a light that shined bright inside of you. Brought out the best in people and you always had compassion in your heart. I know you are with GOD. I will miss you and I love you Tara Mae
God has truly gained another angel .I didn't know her very long but seen how big her heart was and my prayers continue to go out for the family
It’s so hard to believe you’re truly gone, I will never forget the day I got the news. My heart dropped and broke for your sweet babies and family! I know Granny and Paw has been dreading the day they get the call your gone! Fly high and watch over us all, I know your flying high with your momma, I know your not suffering or in pain any longer. I truly wished thing’s would of turned out differently. Now your an angle watching over us all!!! I love you Tara, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN and WILL ALWAYS BE MY DEAR TRUE FRIEND!!!! Hard to believe we have been friends for 30 years!!! Never skipped a beat not even when I choose the journey I now walk so badly wished you was walking along side of me!!!
