Sybil Prestwood Barrier, 82, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, March 20, 2016. Born in Burke County, NC on August 4, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher Sydney Prestwood and Fern Maree Harris Prestwood. Sybil was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Barrier is survived by her sons, Mickey Barrier and his wife, Patti, Jeff Barrier and his wife, Angie, and Tim Barrier and his wife, Trina, all of Morganton; granddaughters, Leah Barrier, Coley Barrier, Megan B. Stevens, and Katy Roland; great-grandchildren, Stevie Roland, Journi Roland, Saylir Roland, and Thad Stevens; and her special companion, David Miles.
In addition to her parents, Sybil was preceded in death by her husband, Carl McCoy Barrier, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 23 at St. Matthews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Heather Kilbourne and the Rev. Tom Stinson-Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
