Sudie Frances Falls

Sudie Frances Falls, 85, of Greer Avenue in Glen Alpine, NC died Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. She was born March 11, 1923 in Cleveland County, and was a daughter of the late John Pinkney Smith and Ellie Buff Smith. Sudie was a member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church, and a retired employee of Drexel Heritage Furniture with over 30 years of service.Sudie is survived by sons, Lewis Falls and wife, Julie, of Nova Scotia, Canada, Fred Falls and friend, Melissa Grill, Edward Falls and wife, Sheron, and John Falls and wife, Ruby, all of Glen Alpine; daughters, Frances Hood and husband, Charles, of Lenoir, NC, Betty Falls of Morganton and Edith McKee and husband, James, all of Morganton, and Mary Ellen Price and husband, Jackie, of Lawndale, NC; brothers, Franklin, Reid, Ace, Howard, and Joe Smith, all of Morganton; sisters, Lucy Lail of Drexel, NC, and Ivey Cook of Casar; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Jackson Falls.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church with Rev. Roger Brackett and Rev. Jackie Price officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour.
