Steve Taylor, 64, of Drexel, NC passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1961 in McDowell County to the late Furman B. Taylor and Betty Hicks Taylor. Steve attended Dula Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from PCA after thirty-five years of service. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his beloved in-laws, Edith Cagle and James Curtis Cagle; brothers-in-law, Jim Ruyle, James Cagle, Jr., James Shufford Cagle, and Tim Pons; and sister, Debbie Cagle.

Steve is survived by his wife, Vivian Taylor; sons, Steven Adam Taylor, Phillip Beach II (Lana), and Andy Owens; daughter, Penny Smith (Derrick); grandchildren, Raymond Taylor, Hunter Taylor, Elise Grethen, Alyssa Grethen, Emma Smith, Kaleigh Beach, Karter Beach, Colson Beach, and Emery Beach; brothers, Furman “Junior” Taylor (Glenda), James ‘Cotton” Taylor (Denise); and sisters, Anita Ireland, Missy Edward (Mike), and Pat Pons.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Valerie Hightower and Steve’s son, Andy Owens, and Rev. Chad Conley officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
