Steve “Old Man” Setzer

Steve “Old Man” Setzer, 67, of Morganton caught his ride to Heaven on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Born in Brevard, NC on August 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Charles W. Setzer and Reba Searcy Setzer. Old Man was a licensed plumber, pipe fitter and welder (and one heck of a bass player), and for many years he owned and operated Setzer Plumbing and Heating. He believed in quality work, honesty, and integrity. Of everything the Old Man did, his two proudest accomplishments were his sons, Charlie and Brett.
Old Man is survived by his sons, Charles Steven Setzer, Jr. and William “Brett” Setzer and his girlfriend, Kelly Giles Crawley, all of Morganton; a brother, William Marshall Setzer of Morganton; and sisters, Shirley Setzer of Charlotte, NC and Elsie Spencer and her husband, John, of Statesville, NC.
In addition to his parents, Old Man was preceded in death by his former wife, Pat Setzer; a son, Jasson Setzer; brothers, Bunk and Teddy Joe Setzer; and a sister, Peggy Jean Setzer.
The celebration of Old Man’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
