Stephen “Steve” Marler Perry, 84, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2026, after a period of declining health.

Born in Burke County, NC on July 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Marler Perry and Vivian P. Sanders.

Steve was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his Lord. He was very passionate about speaking to others about his faith, and he loved working on his farm. Steve was a long-time member of Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Karen Perry Coleman (Dean) and Stephanie Perry Smith (Steve); grandchildren, Sierra Sprehe (Brett), Deanna Puckett (Michael), Kelsey Williamson (Andrew), DJ Coleman (Lauren), Hunter Smith (Lillianna), and Katelyn Smith; great-grandchildren, Libby Brown, Adelyn Puckett, and Landyn Brown; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Perry; daughter, Vivian Perry Clarke; sisters, Sylvia Perry Swink and Peggy Perry Sisk; and an infant brother.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home by Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217. The graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery on Piedmont Road with Rev. Charles “Bud” Harmon officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Karen and Stephanie, We are so sorry to see this (I was looking up another obituary)! Carol and I did not know about our cousin Steve’s passing. Our sincere condolences go to all of you!
