Stanley G. "Gary" Hamby, Jr. 55, of Laws Street, Lenoir, NC died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born September 22, 1950 in Caldwell County, NC, and was the son of the late Rev. Stanley Garfield Hamby, Sr. and Mildred Stoker Hamby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Hamby Minton. He was a former employee of Hammary and Singer Furniture Company, and then worked for 15 years as Chief of Security at Grace Ridge Retirement Center.
Stanley is survived by sisters, Libby Hamby Kirksey of Albany, GA, and Annette Hamby Carlton of Lenoir, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Bill E. Bentley officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour before the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Annette Carlton, 3384 Rocky Road, Lenoir, NC.
