Spencer Mull, 83, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, December 25, 2011. Born on July 8, 1928, he was the oldest child of the late Arthur and Nola Mull. Spencer attended Missionary Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Clyde, Donald, and Max Mull.He first worked for 10 years at Huffman Hosiery Mill and then owned and operated Point Service Station. Spencer then worked as a pipe-fitter for Daniels Construction Company and owned and operated Fairway Furniture for the last 35 years.Spencer is survived by his wife of 61 wonderful years, Martha Chapman Mull of the home; a daughter, Susan Mull Farrington and husband, Raymond, of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Heather Farrington Hucks and husband, Darrin, and Matthew Farrington and wife, Ashley, all of Huntersville; great-grandchildren, Lydia Grace Farrington, 6, his namesake, Spencer Hayes Farrington, 2½,, and was also joyfully awaiting the arrival of a third great-grandchild to be born in June to Heather and Darrin; and a sister, Sudie Crowder and husband, Ellis, of Morganton.He lived in the moment and always had a joke, story, song, or "Spencer-ism? to share. He loved horseback riding, nature, bird-watching, harmonica playing, inventing and building things, music, western movies, genealogy, and a good prank. He will be missed.A celebration of Spencer?s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
