Skip B. Walborn

Skip B. Walborn, Jr., 54, of Morganton, NC died Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Dover, DE on March 6, 1959, he was the son of the late Wally Walborn and Sandy Sterling Walborn. Skip graduated Mount Olive High School in Mount Olive, NJ and was employed by Sara Lee. Skip was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Lenoir and Calvary Lutheran Church in Morganton. He was a Scoutmaster, Sunday school teacher, and President of the church council at St. Stephen’s and was youth leader for both churches.Skip is survived by his wife, Beth W. Walborn, whom he married February 18, 1995; his son, Andrew Turngren of Charlotte, NC and Andrew’s friend, Kaylyn Waycaster, of Candler; and his in-laws, Jane and Will Wolfgang of Morganton.The memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Reverends Michael Riley and Tony Bradshaw officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
