Shirley Parker Pearson, 88, of Morganton, NC, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025.
Born in Burke County, NC on January 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Buford Avery Parker and Vicey Elizabeth Suttles Parker.
As a devoted member of Burkemont Baptist Church, Shirley was a woman of strong faith and compassion. Her presence was a blessing to the congregation, and her kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Shirley dedicated 41 years of service to Shadowline, where she retired with respect and admiration from her colleagues. She enjoyed her retirement and was a regular at the Burke County Senior Center. Above all, Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them. Her legacy of love and devotion continues to inspire those she leaves behind.
Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Dakota Allen Pearson and Kalie Elizabeth Pearson; great-grandchildren, Alleigh, Izzy, Phoenix, and Dakota; and special friend, Margaret Brranch.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Phifer Pearson; son, David Allen Pearson; brothers, Arthur, Glenn, Ralph, James, and Alvin Parker; and sisters, Margie Black, Marie Brackett, and Annie Stephenson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Burkemont Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton, Rev. Dr. Luke Lane, and Rev. Dr. Keith Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burkemont Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
