Shirley Ingram McGalliard, 86, of Morganton, NC, formerly of Glen Alpine, peacefully passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Born July 19, 1937 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Hobert Ingram and Eva Taylor Ingram.

Shirley was a member of the Pentecostal Faith. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching basketball, especially the Carolian Tarheels.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde “Jim” McGalliard; sisters, Betty Crowder, Barbara Barlow, and Grace Baird; daughter-in-law, Wendy McGalliard; and son-in-law, Greg Barrier.

Shirley is survived by her children, Eva Barrier and Avery McGalliard; grandchildren, Tyler Moses (wife, Amanda) and Lanette McGalliard (fiancé, Larry Buchanan); great-grandson, Beau Moses; the awaited arrival of great-granddaughter, Harper Grace Buchanan; and sisters, Merle Price (husband, Don) and Minerva Jean Carpenter.

A private graveside service will be held.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the staff at Cambridge House for the years of dedicated care and love shown to Shirley. They would also like to thank the kind and supportive staff of Via Health Partners.
