Selma King Canipe

Selma King Canipe, 89, of Morganton, NC passed away, Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Born on June 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George Lowell King and Lorena King. Selma was loved by her family dearly. She loved being on Lake James and enjoyed collecting sea shells.

Selma is survived by her husband of 70 years, Thomas C. Canipe; daughter, Lori Eckard (Maurice); son, Bryan Canipe (Rita); son-in-law, Todd Lynn; grandchildren, Cassidy Lackey (Tanner), Benjamin Canipe (Kelsey)Jason Eckard, Aaron Eckard, Nicole Lynn, and Amelia Lynn (Harrison Spires); and great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Grace, Victoria Lynn, Keygan Eckard, and Hadley Ann Spires due in November.

In addition to her parents, Selma is preceded in death by her daughter, LeAnne Lynn; and brother, George “Pete” King.

A cryptside service will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Eric Hauss officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
