Scharleen Short Blevins

Scharleen Short Blevins, 89, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 05, 2019 after several years of declining health.  Born in Cleveland County, NC on July 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Zero Guy Short and Cora Hunt Short.  She was a member of Mount Home Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Keith Blevins and wife, Derenda, of Morganton; grandchildren, Lisa Blevins Powell and husband, Brad of Morganton, and Brian Keith Blevins and wife, Jenny of Lincolnton; great-grandchildren, Anniston Jade Powell and Cade Ryan Powell both of Morganton, and Henry Charles Blevins and Nathaniel Wesley Blevins both of Lincolnton; brother, Zane Guy Short of Morganton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Blevins; sisters, Lesba Ledford, Selma Short, Mary Sue Carpenter, and Lula Mae Morris; and brothers, Odell Short, Grier “Joe” Short, and Charlie Short.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating.  Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in the Carroway Cemetery in Celo, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 2272 Mount Home Church Road, Morganton, NC  28655 or Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC  28690.

We would also like to give a special thank you to all the staff of Grace Heights Health and Rehabilitation Center and Burke Hospice and Palliative Care for the excellent care given to Mom over the last two years.
