Savannah Souther, 96, of Morganton, NC, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Born in Yancey County, NC on December 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Cleophas Hughes and Dovie Mitchell Hughes.

Savannah was an active member of North Morganton Baptist Church. She loved to travel, especially with Christian Tours. She was a dedicated water aerobics enthusiast, attending Morganton Aquatic Center five days a week. Savannah was once an audience member for the Price is Right when Bob Barker was host.

Mrs. Souther is survived by special nieces, Rita Robinson and Joyce Allman; nephews, Scott and David Lane; and numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and beloved friends.

In addition to her parents, Savannah was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Souther; and daughter, Patricia Roston.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Revs. Kenny Baker and Gary Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Morganton Baptist Church.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
