Sarah Louise Scott, 80, of Morganton passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Burke Hospice after a period of declining health. Born in Burke County on October 26, 1930, she was the daughter of

Sarah Louise Scott, 80, of Morganton passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Burke Hospice after a period of declining health. Born in Burke County on October 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Marshall Scott and Lillie Pendley Scott. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Mark, Thomas, Ernest, Charlie, and Paul Scott; sister, Mary Scott Jordan; half-brother, James Scott; and half-sister, Della Fox. Sarah attended Guilford College and then worked until her retirement in the office of Drexel-Heritage in Drexel. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Morganton where she was a member of the Agape Sunday school class, and served on the Bereavement Committee. In past years, Sarah served as a volunteer for Comma, Grace Hospital, and Hospice. She loved her community and church. She enjoyed the Morganton Library and spent many hours there in her later years reading about events both past and present.Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Ruth Reinhardt of Hickory; her brother, Herman Scott and wife, Vonnie of Morganton; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and church family. In the last months of Sarah’s life, she was blessed to have the love and care of a special niece, Debbie Ogle and her husband, Gary.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 459, Morganton, NC 28680, or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.Though our hearts are saddened, heaven will rejoice upon her arrival.
