Sarah Elizabeth Smith, 85, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Born in Burke County, NC on December 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Earl Arney and Nana Patton Arney. Sarah was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, and listening to music. She was a kind, loving woman who loved her family dearly.
Sarah is survived by her daughters, Tammy Smith and Alice Smith (Charlie); and granddaughter, Grace Smith.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Smith; brothers, Willie, Joseph, and Henry Arney; sister, Kathy Grady; and an infant sister.
The family will receive friends from 1 o 2 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Burkemont Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
