Santos Hernandez Chavez, 52, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Born September 28, 1959 in Guatemala, he was a son of Antonio Hernandez Vasquez and Micaela Chavez Perez of Guatemala. Mr. Chavez was the owner and operator of the Super Tienda Maya II convenience store on Avery Ave. in Morganton.In addition to his parents, Santos is survived by his wife, Rosario Hernandez Garcia of Morganton; children, Antonio Seberiano Hernandez Gongalez, Sebastiana Hernandez Gonzalez, Isabela Hernandez Gonzalez, Brandon Arturo Hernandez Gonzalez, and Francisco Leonardo Hernandez Gonzalez, all of Guatemala, Santos Rubelsi Hernandez Gonzalez of California, and Micaela Hernandez Gonzalez of Morganton; the mother of his children, Maria Gonzalez Oxlaj; brothers, Francisco Hernandez and Lorenzo Arturo Hernandez, both of Morganton, and Domingo Hernandez of California; and sisters, Julia Hernandez, Maria Tomas, and Delores Hernandez, all of Guatemala.A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth Whittington officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until 2 pm at the church. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
