Samuel “Sam” Mace, 64, of Morganton, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

Born in Burke County, NC on January 24, 1959, he was the son of the late Walter Nelson Mace and Iva Mae Chapman Mace.

Sam was a member of Victory Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, and he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a simple man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.

Sam is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Epley Mace; brothers, Steve Mace (Alice) and Chris Mace (Kim); sister-in-law, Carolyn Smith (Dean); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Mace; and his faithful canine companion, Rusty.

A memorial service for Sam will be held at a later date.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
