Samuel "Kin" Tugman, 42, of Bowman Ave., Morganton, NC died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Grace Hospital. Born in Caldwell County, NC on August 4, 1968, he was the son of Samuel LeRoy Tugman, Sr. and Hattie Bell Perkins. Ken was a member of Calvin Heights Baptist Church. He served for 22 years with Oak Hill Fire/Rescue and 2 years with Morganton Public Safety as a reserve firefighter. He enjoyed working with school children in the firefighter’s smokehouse.Ken is survived by his wife, Angela Dawn Ross Tugman of the home; children, Kenneth Ty-Allen Tugman and Torrie Nicole Tugman of the home; a grandfather, Ralph Perkins; a grandmother, Lottie Tallent; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces.Ken was preceded in death by grandmothers, Harriette Perkins and Elizabeth Tugman; a grandfather, LeRoy Tugman; an uncle, Jimmy Tugman; and aunt, Betty Roane; and a cousin, Ann Brown.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. George "Bake" Garmon, Minister Debra Hightower, Rev. Ferguson, Rev. Carter, and Rev. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. At other times the family will be at the residence on Bowman Avenue. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
