Ruth Kochheiser

Ruth Kochheiser, 94, of Morganton, NC died March 30, 2021. Born on June 10, 1926 in Des Moines, IA, she was the daughter of Thomas Garvin Bole and Grace Anderson Bole. Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Cleo Edward Kochheiser, upon his return from World War II in 1946. They lived and worked in Des Moines until their retirement in 1981. Ruth and Cleo then enjoyed 26 wonderful years in McAllen, TX where they took delight in warm weather, square dancing clubs, and outdoor activities. They relocated to Grace Ridge Retirement Community in 2007 to be closer to their only daughter.

Ruth, Ruthie, Momma, Grammy as she was affectionately known, was a woman whose Faith in God ran deep and strong. Hers was a quiet and unassuming faith, a nonjudgmental faith, a faith she lived out each day. Daily meditation, devotionals, Bible study and prayer were as much a part of her day as breathing. Her incredible faith and daily walk with God were an inspiration to those who knew her. Each day ended with Ruth listening to her beloved old-time hymns.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Judy Kochheiser Grubbs (Joe) of Greensboro, NC; a granddaughter, Julie Grubbs (Alejandro Mendoza) of Durham, NC; a grandson, Jefferson Grubbs (Adam Woolley) of Philadelphia, PA; and a brother, Bob Bole (Beverly) of Des Moines, IA. Her family rejoices that Ruth's eyes now see clearly, her ears hear, and that she is at Peace with her God for all of Eternity. Ruth and family offer grateful thanks for her 13+ years at Grace Ridge, with a special thanks to the staff of Grace Ridge Health Care who made her final days both dignified and comfortable.
