Ruth Brittain Chapman, 95 of Morganton, NC passed away on Saturday September 19th, 2026. Born June 1st, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Bessie Brittain. Ruth was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church where she was a charter member. She retired from Morganton Dye and Finishing.
Ruth is survived by her son Wayne Chapman (Robyn); grandchildren Alex Chapman (Nikki) and Nick Chapman (Marianna); three great-grandsons, Reese, Ryder, Ward; and an expected fourth great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Chapman; her sisters Carrie Duckworth and Ethel (Beese) Shuping; and brothers Coy, Jack, Joe, Vernon and Ervin Brittain.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2026 at Cross Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. Dr. Jeffery Beach officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cross Memorial Baptist Church, 650 Enola Road, Morganton, NC.
