Ruth Baker, 98, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
Born in Madison County, NC on November 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses Grant Worley and Ella Caldwell Worley. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine. Ruth taught children’s Sunday school for many years. She loved children and enjoyed babysitting for working mothers. She also enjoyed canning and freezing the vegetables from her garden.
Ruth is survived by her son, Alvin “Al” Baker (Dee); daughter, Debbie Patton (Charles); five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Leland Baker; and daughter, Jean Bumgarner.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, May 29, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with the Revs. John Terry and Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Bridge42 Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice.
