Ruby Whisenant McCall, 82, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Born in Burke County, NC on June 4, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Isaac Whisenant and Annie Estelle Allman Whisenant.

Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a member of New Manna Baptist Church. She loved and kept children and even raised some that were not her own. She also enjoyed growing and tending flowers and plants, but her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Randy Huffman (Donna); grandchildren, Holly Owens, Chandler Huffman, Josh Huffman, Heather Pittman, Cody Huffman, and Killian Reep; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Childers (Randy).

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husbands Carl Huffman and Dallas McCall; daughter, Diane Huffman Stroup; son, Tracy Huffman; and eight siblings, Robert Whisnant, Albert Whisnant, Janie Bell Owens, Annie Mae Owens, Raymond Whisnant, Winnie Whisnant, Joe Ben Whisnant, and Billy Whisnant.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Trinity Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. Tim Hodge and Rev. Bruce Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

This is Rubys sister in law ( Dallas’s sister ) I didn’t know how to get in touch with Ruby when I saw her at his funeral & should have gotten her number but didn’t think about it til it was too late , I’m so sorry hearing bout her passing, she was the sweetest loving woman & I sure miss & loved her , I’m so very sorry for your loss of your beautiful precious mama & if I had known how to get in touch with her & knew bout her death I would have been to her services, my heart is broken we never was able to connect again but I’m so thankful Dallas had her for his wife , they were so good to each other , my nephew tx me a few minutes ago bout her passing and just found out also & said he would have came if he had known it , my condolences to you and your family , you sure had a precious beautiful mama ,😢🙏❤️
