Ruby Rae Buff Norman

Ruby Rae Buff Norman, 90, of Morganton died Monday, February 23, 2015. Ruby was born October 30 , 1924 in Burke County to the late Champion Joseph Buff and Lyda Mae Waters Buff. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Ruby owned and operated a daycare in her home her whole life. She was a charter member of Nowling’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, and an avid gardener, seamstress and cook.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie A. Norman; a daughter, Elsie Russell; three granddaughters and a number of brothers and sisters.
Ruby is survived by her children, Leonard Norman, Gladys Carswell, Hazel Davis and husband, W’J. “Bill’, and Rita Aldredge and husband, James all of Morganton and Rick Norman and wife, Tammy of Hudson; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 at Nowling’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Darvy Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. Memorial contribution may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
