Ruby Mae Metcalf, 80 of Morganton, NC passed away, Sunday, October 15, 2023. Born on September 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Hittie Mayfield. Ruby attended Praise Assembly of God Church Glen Alpine.
Ruby is survived by her children, Timothy Mayfield (Polly), Theodore Mayfield, Teresa Courtney (David); grandchildren, Teddy, TJ, Brian, Michael Mayfield, Charlie Rose; great-grandchild, Mason Mayfield; brother, Gerald Mayfield.
In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Burl Metcalf; brothers, Leroy, Edward, James Mayfield; sisters, Louise Mayfield, Geraldine Powell.
The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm, Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Praise Assembly Church of God. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2pm with the Pastor Boyd Biggerstaff officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Alpine Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I can’t believe you are gone! You took me in from the very first day, treated me as your own from the very beginning! You were the only mother Tjs ever had and we are devastated that you’re gone! I’m not sure how Tj is gonna get through this! But just know that you are forever loved and missed by all of us! Rest in Peace maw maw! We love you!
