Ruby Louise Phillips Austin, 84, of Morganton passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Born in Burke County, NC on August 31, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Marcus Hennessee Phillips and Beulah Secrest Phillips. Ruby was a lifelong member of Asheville Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Austin is survived by her sons, Allen Austin (Renee) and Mark Austin (Carol); grandchildren, Michael Austin (Amber), Josh Austin (Jennifer), and Tiffany Austin Gentry (Nathan); and great-grandchildren, Ian, William, Gabriel, and Benjamin.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Jefferson Austin; five brothers; and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Asheville Street Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Douglas Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
