Roy Junior Pritchard, 83, of Morganton, NC passed away on July 20, 2025 at Amorem Patient Care Unit- Valdese while surrounded by his family.
Roy, or known to some as “Rosem”, was born in Burke County on March 10, 1942 to the late Edgar A. Roy, and Ellen Moore Pritchard.
Roy was a builder by trade. Over his lifetime he built furniture frames, pianos, and houses. He also built a successful family business, Cut-Right Frame Company, from the ground up and made frames for large companies such as Drexel Heritage and Bernhardt. He was quick to tell you that he only had a 9th grade education, but he owned and operated a reputable company with a fax machine, a land-line phone, a calculator, a strong work ethic and a handshake. He was old school and proud of it, and he took pride in a job well done.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, JoAnn Pritchard; son, Roy Jeffrey Pritchard; daughter, Robin M. Smith (husband, Brian J. Smith); and siblings, Bob Pritchard, Mickie Johnson, and Shirley Fulbright. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kashiarae Pritchard, Peyton and Landri Smith; and great-grandfather to Kyler, Kanan and Asher Pritchard.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brothers, Esmond, Earchel, Grover, Paul, and Troy Pritchard; and sisters, Evelyn McGalliard, Marilyn Pearson, Geneva Reed, Jewel Teague, and Betty Conley.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Adams officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
The Pritchard family would like to thank Amorem for their compassionate care during Roy’s final days.

Leave a tribute for Roy Junior Pritchard.
My Uncle Roy is a pleasure to look back and remember. My mother his sister (Jewel Teague) would speak of him and her siblings often and she was very proud of him and the man he became. He was very respectful of my sister and me and always had a smile on his face to welcome us. He loved his wife and family and knew that no matter what Joann was there for him with Love for him. It was a great thing to see. May God bless you Uncle Roy, you can finally rest well.
