Roy Eli Setzer, 85, of the Hartland Community died Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Roy was born May 22, 1926 in Caldwell County to the late Joseph Wilfong Setzer and Lou Ellen Kincaid Setzer. He was a member of Hartland Baptist Church and U.S. Marine veteran of WWII.
In addition to his parents Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elise McCurry Setzer.
Roy is survived by a step-son, Norris McCurry and his wife Brenda of Morganton; and step-grandsons, Adam McCurry and Patrick McCurry both of Morganton.A funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Hartland Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew A Grindstaff officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hartland Baptist Church, 3730 Hartland Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
