Ronnie Gerald Carroway

Ronnie Gerald Carroway, 75, of Morganton, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

Born in Hendersonville, NC on June 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Walter Carroway and Elizabeth Cagle Ratliff.

Ronnie was a member of Lake Bowen Baptist Church in Inman, SC. He was an avid golfer who traveled the country, and he formerly lived in Birmingham, AL.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Kevin Carroway (Jessica); daughter, Dedee Tipton (Jess); grandchildren, Courtney Smith (Scottie), Tanya Marlowe (Levi), Jesse Tipton (Jasmine), Levi Tipton (Anslie), Shuan Carroway (Monica), Kearstyn Garren (Chris), EmmaLee Carroway, and Kaleb Carroway; great-grandchildren, Judson Smith, Owen Smith, Judah Marlowe, Asher Marlowe, Pierce Marlowe, Anna Carroway, Bryan Carroway, Sebastian Carroway, Colton Carroway, Olivia Carroway, Peyton Carroway, and Madelynn Gamble; and a brother, Jerry Carroway (Xuan).

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Hugh Carroway; and half-sisters, Enola Smith and Kellie Goodwin.

The family will greet friends from 2 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A celebration of Ronnie’s life will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Mr. Jess Tipton officiating.
