Ronald C. Greer

Ronald C. Greer, 65, of Valdese, NC died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 8, 20111. Born April 11, 1946 in Burke County, NC, he was the son of the late James Clayton Greer and Mabel Pearl Greene Greer. Ronnie was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church-Drexel. He was an avid golfer, and a wonderful friend and neighbor.A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, Ronnie is survived by his wife, Judy Deyton Greer of the home; a son, Jeffrey Clayton Greer and wife, Stephanie, of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, James and Jocelyn Greer; sisters, Mildred Perkins of Glen Alpine, and Joann Herron and husband, Dale of Morganton; father-in-law, Rev. John Deyton of Lexington, NC; brothers-in-law, Jack Deyton and wife, Joanna, and John Deyton and wife, Janice, all of Lexington, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Greer; and a sister, Azalee Wilson.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Christ United Methodist Church- Drexel with the Reverends Martha Buff Welch and Mike Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
