Robey Edward Whisenant, 82, of Morganton died Sunday, February 18, 2018. Born in Burke County, NC on July 2, 1935, he was the son of the late Robey E. Whisenant and Rosie C. Pritchard Whisenant. He was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church.
Robey is survived by his wife, Vivian “Lynn” Lackey Whisenant; children, Steve Whisenant and wife, Renee, of Morganton, Teri Longo and husband, Bobby, of Morganton, Donna Whisenant of Asheville, NC, and Lisa Moorefield and husband, Jeff, of Morganton; grandchildren, Lauren Imboden, Tyler Whisenant, Evan Longo, Jessica Branch, Ryan Moorefield, and Karly Moorefield; 9 great-grandchildren; half-brother, Wayne Saulman; and sister-in-law, Sadie Whisenant.
In addition to his parents, Robey was preceded in death by 5 siblings, Clyde, Pete, Tootsie, Polly, and Nora.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at El Bethel Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Justin Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
